Opening the Lot Map

The lot map gives you an overhead view of your whole property. Every tracked vehicle shows at its last known spot. To open it:

  1. Go to the GPS Tracking module from the main menu.
  2. Click the Lot Map tab at the top of the screen.
  3. The map loads with your lot as the background and markers placed at each vehicle's current spot.

Reading Vehicle Markers

Each vehicle on the map has a marker. Markers give you quick info about each vehicle:

  • Color coding — Markers use colors by type. New, used, and service vehicles each have their own color so you can tell them apart fast.
  • Stock number label — Each marker shows the stock number. You can spot a unit without clicking.
  • Age indicator — Vehicles not scanned in a while may show a different marker style. This warns you that the spot may be old.

Using Zones

Your lot map can be split into named zones that match the real areas of your lot:

  • New vehicle display — The main front rows and showroom area.
  • Used vehicle area — The used car lot sections.
  • Service lane — Vehicles in service or waiting for service.
  • Overflow lot — Back lots, extra storage, or offsite spots.
  • Detail area — Vehicles being prepped before going to the sales floor.

Zones are marked on the map so you can see how many vehicles are in each area at a glance. Your IPS rep sets up zones during install to match your lot layout.

Searching and Filtering on the Map

With hundreds of vehicles, the map can get busy. Use these tools to narrow the view:

  1. Search bar — Type a stock number, VIN, or model name. The map zooms to the match and highlights it.
  2. Type filter — Switch between New, Used, or All to show only the group you want.
  3. Zone filter — Pick a zone to show only vehicles in that area. Good for checking stock in one lot section.
  4. Age filter — Filter by scan age to find vehicles not scanned in a set number of days.

Tip: Mix filters for exact results. For example, show "Used vehicles" in the "Overflow lot" zone not scanned in 7+ days. This finds units that may need to move to the sales floor.

Zooming, Panning, and Viewing Details

The map uses standard controls:

  • Zoom in/out — Use the scroll wheel, pinch on a touchscreen, or click the zoom buttons. Zooming in shows more detail and spreads out packed markers.
  • Pan — Click and drag (or swipe on mobile) to move around the map. This helps on large lots that do not fit on one screen.
  • Click a marker — Clicking a marker opens a detail panel. It shows the stock number, VIN, year/make/model, color, days in stock, last scan time, and bin location.
  • Fit all — Click "Fit All" to reset the view so all vehicles show on screen.
